Not The Usual Kind Of Love

I Pray That The Water Will Drown Out The Din

Gerard didn't mean to wake Frank up, but the small teenager stirred in his arms when he began to stroke his hair. Frank was nestled against Gerard's bare chest, eyes fluttering as Gerard began to play with the silky strands.

"Mmmm," Frank sighed in content, a soft smile on his lips as he hugged Gerard tigther. "Morning Jay."

Gerard stopped at this, his hand falling still next to the pillow. Frank frowned and looked up, wondering why Jamia had stopped stroking through his hair.

Then he saw Gerard and the events of the past week came crashing down on him.

He shot away from Gerard like he'd been electrocuted, scrambling away and struggling with the sheets tangled around his legs. Gerard seized him, grabbing his wrists and throwing him back down against the matress.

"Let me go!" Frank yelled, struggling and kicking out against Gerard.

"You weren't syaing that last night Frankie," Gerard sneered, gripping Frank's wrists so tight he was bruising the skin.

Frank spat in his face and brought his knee up to kick Gerard straight in the stomach, winding him. Gerard loosened his grip and Frank bolted from the bed, flying for the door as Gerard regained himself.

Frank managed to make it half way down the stairs when he heard Gerard behind him. Frank felt like he'd left his stomach behind in the bedroom as adrenaline and fear shot through his veins, heart pounding in his ears.

Frank didn't know what to do. He had to choose quickly because Gerard was right behind him.

He made a snap decision to sprint for the door, throwing over a chair behind him and managing to trip Gerard over. He raced down the hall to the front door, seizing the handle and wrenching it open.

Only it didn't open. It was locked.

Frank spun around to find Gerard just getting to his feet. Frank made a run for it, bare feet thudding against the dark, glossy wooden floorboards. He narrowly missed Gerard's outstretched hand as he made a grab for him.

Frank got to the kitchen and threw open the drawers, blindly searching for a knife, for anything.

He'd gouge Gerard's eyes out with a fucking spoon if he had to.

His fingers closed around the handle of a cleaver and he whirled around to find Gerard stood in the doorway, watching Frank with venomous eyes, his breathing slightly too fast.

"What are you doing Frank?" Gerard asked in a low, dangerous voice, eyes flickering from Frank's face to the cleaver in his trembling hands.

Gerard let go of the door frame when Frank didn't answer and stepped closer to him.

"Come near me and I'll take your head clean off your fucking neck, you piece of shit," Frank snarled at him, holding the glinting metal object up as Gerard came closer.

"Put it down Frank, before you do something you regret," Gerard said calmly, taking one tiny step closer. "Put it down and we can just forget about it. You're not thinking straight Frankie. You love me, remember?"

"Shut the fuck up!" Frank spat, lunging forwards at Gerard.

Gerard reacted immediately, knocking Frank's legs out beneath him and sending the boy flying face first to the ground, cleaver being thrown up in the air. Gerard grabbed Frank before he could get up and hauled him to his feet.

Frank screamed and kicked out, arms struggling to pry Gerard off of him. Gerard got a hold on Frank's hair and smashed the boy's head into the wall.

Frank's legs stopped kicking and just weakly flopped beneath him, sagging as his head spun from the blow. Gerard carried him back upstairs and headed for the bathroom. Frank just slumped limply in his arms as Gerard got them through the door and set Frank down against the wall.

He turned to the bath and turned the cold tap on, fixing the plug in place and letting the tub fill up. He stood up and walked across the bathroom, locking the door so Frank couldn't get out.

Frank was still lying against the wall, sliding down it slightly. Blood was starting to ooze down from the gash on his head and over his face. His eyes were half closed and his breathing was hitched and irregular.

Gerard just stood over him, watching him, waiting for the tub to fill up.

When it did, he turned the tap off and and dragged Frank over to the tub. He slapped him across the face, waking him up a little.

"I want you to be awake for this Frank," Gerard hissed in his ear. "I want you to know this is what happens when you upset me, but you're getting off lightly."

Frank groaned as he was hauled up and shoved to his knees, his torso bent over the tub. Gerard fisted his hair and held his wrists together with his other hand and plunged Frank's head under the freezing cold water.

Frank held his breath and feebly struggled against Gerard, but it made no difference. He couldn't throw Gerard off, he was too dizzy and weak.

Gerard just watched in wonder as the water gradually turned red from the blood seeping from Frank's head as he squirmed and splashed in an attempt to break free. He wrenched Frank back and the boy came up, gasping and making obscene noises as he gulped down the air.

"I don't think you're sorry yet Frankie," Gerard said softly over the noise of Frank's gasping and the dripping water as he shoved Frank's head back under the water.

Frank's lungs were burning already and he felt like he was going to throw up. He desperately tried to keep his mouth closed and hold his breath, but he was struggling. He was going to have to breathe soon, he was going to fucking drown-

The water rushed around him and he was yanked back up above the surface, spluttering and choking, dripping wet and on the verge of passing out.

"Are you sorry yet?" Gerard asked him, his voice sounding distant and echoing.

Frank couldn't answer, couldn't see, couldn't breathe.

"No? Well that's a shame. We're going to keep this up until you either say you're sorry or you drown."

Back under again. Frank didn't even try to move this time, just held his breath with every ounce of strength he had left, squeezing his eyes closed. Gerard watched as Frank stopped moving and the water went still. His hands slowly loosened their grip on the soaking boy and he let Frank's body slump over the bath.

He backed away, horror crashing down on him as Frank remained lifeless.

He'd killed Frank. Frank was dead. It was his fault, he'd murdered Frank.

Gerard turned and fled from the bathroom, rushing through the house and out the front door, leaving it wide open and the motionless body slumped in a pool of pink water in the bathroom.

There's something so fucking twisted and yet beautiful about this story. I think it's very rare to see something this emotional and real. I keep coming back to it because it's just that insanely good.
