Gerard way is a High School junior who can't wait to get the fuck out of Jersey. He spent his high school years getting pushed around by nearly everybody, so he copes with it the only way he knows how.

Eliza Toro is a battered child who's seen and experienced horrible things. She hides it well, but she's dying on the inside. She feels completely alone in New York, but fortunately, her mom takes her to a 'safe haven': her cousins house in New Jersey. She meets some interesting people, but none like the two guys who will become her best friends, and certainly none like Gerard Arthur Way, the fat artist kid from down the street.
