Danger Days: The True Life of a Real Rebel

We Came to Party, Kill the Party Tonight

It was the afternoon of the Awesome Audio Assault, and the Killjoys were gearing up to storm the city. Other Killjoys from all the other Zones had been alerted, and were gearing up to do the same. The Fabulous Killjoys themselves were tightening their masks, lacing up their boots, sheathing their guns, and pulling on their gloves, music still blaring around them.
“I am not afraid to keep on living,
I am not afraid to walk this world alone”.
Honey, if you stay I’ll be forgiven,
Nothing you can say can stop me going home…”

All seven Killjoys piled into the van, still cranking the jams, tuned into the non-stop playlist Dr. Death Deyfing had set.
“(I’ll turn it into seduction)
I’ll turn it into some facts.
Medication,
And the way your eyes look into me,
Lubrication,
Can you turn off all the lights so I can’t see?”

When they made it to Battery City, they found that they were the first Killjoys on the scene, and were met with rebelling city mice. The citizens-gone-wild welcomed the outlaws, rushing towards them and chattering over each other as they flanked the seven.
Faye, now wearing her ‘FUCK BLI’ helmet, lead the other six masked Killjoys down the main road towards Better Living, shooting down any masked Drac they saw. The rebels caught on and started doing the same, though their aim was awful. Innocent civilians had all taken cover in broken buildings, hiding from everything.
“Korse is the one we need to kill. He’s the android controlled by News A Go-Go, and his circuitry is the remote for everything. We fry him, we fry the power. Go-Go doesn’t matter.” Faye instructed over her shoulder, not turning to see the Killjoys behind her nod. She just looked ahead, eyes burning as she stepped through the broken glass that had once been the doors of the elite S/c/a/r/e/c/r/o/w Unit.
Dracs immediately fired from where they’d taken cover behind smashed equipment, but the rebels helped the Killjoys put them down. None of them stumbled as they marched for Korse’s charging cell three floors above them, which he was just climbing out of.

“Killjoys, this ends now.” Korse snarled, his voice rough, like someone who had spent a lifetime smoking cigarettes. He raised his white gun, flanked by a good dozen Dracs, taking the Killjoys by surprise as their elevator doors slid open.
Everyone barley managed to duck, dodging out of the cramped elevator and into the second floor lobby, ducking and rolling. Dr. Death Defying and Boom Box took cover in the elevator, shooting from either side of the door as the others, Killjoys and rebels alike, fired on the Dracs. Better Living Inc seemed to be focused entirely on the outlaws, letting the rebels do their worst as they tried to handle the Killjoys at their best.
“I am not the singer that you wanted
But a dancer
I refuse to answer…”

Ray was doing well, shooting like there was no tomorrow as he dodged through the melee, grabbing the back of one Drac’s collar to shove his gun into the enemy’s bulletproof vest, searing his ribs and dropping him easily.
“…Talk about the passer,
Wrote it for the ones who want to get away”

The music continued to blast through the city as Faye shot one of the last Dracs standing, exhilaration all over her face, exposed when her helmet got knocked off by a flailing rebel. She grinned triumphantly, and Gerard met her gaze, proud that she’d done so well. Faye’s smile disappeared, however, when she was seized from behind, pinned against a cold body, a ray gun pressed to her temple. The girl found herself staring up into the cold, dark eyes of Korse himself.
“You’re one of mine.” He frowned. “You’re just a child, but you destroyed my perfect world. You traitor.”
“You might think it was perfect, but we’re making it beautiful.” Faye retorted, her face set. She was terrified, but she wouldn’t ever let it show. Her voice was strong, and no tears escaped, or even appeared in her eyes.
“Why would you do this?” Korse asked, and the girl held his gaze steadily.
“’Cause I’m a Killjoy.”
Korse’s face twisted in disgust and fury, his finger tightening on the trigger, slow enough that the previously frozen Killjoys reacted. Gerard leapt forward as Mikey dodged to the side, raising his gun to take aim at Korse from where he wouldn’t hit Faye, Frankie and Ray yelled as they ran forward. Korse pulled the trigger fast enough that none of it mattered, letting the lifeless girl drop carelessly to the floor as he watched the guns of the avenging Killjoys flash.
"I'll tell you all how the story ends;
Where the good guys die
And the bad guys win..."
