**Fast-forward to January**
RING! I jumped out of my seat as soon as the final bell rang. I needed to go to the corner store and get myself a Frappucchino. I rushed out to my locker and threw on my coat. I couldn’t wait to start winter break. A whole week off. A whole week without teachers. A whole week without waking up at 6 in the morning! However, it was also a whole week without hanging out with Lizzy, JoAnn, Billie, Mike, Juliana, Tom, Kat, and Lauren. Even though none of them were going away we all still lived on different parts of town, and Jersey was a big state…
“Hey! Julie!” I looked up from my locker to see Juliana, Billie, Tom, Lizzy, and the gang.
“What’s up guys?” I smiled.
“We were wondering if you wanted to come to Manhattan with us tomorrow? We are all gunna go and we know that you miss it!” Juliana said. My heart skipped in excitement.
“Um yes of course I want to go! I just have to ask Gerard and Lindsey if it’s okay.”
“Alright sounds awesome! Text me or Billie and we’ll come and pick you up!”
“Will do!”
“Bye!”
“Bye!”
I went back to packing up my school bag. No matter where I went I couldn’t get away from schoolwork…
“Hey.” I heard someone say from behind me. I turned around and my heart fluttered again. It was Tom.
“Hey,” I replied pushing my bangs to the side.
“So, got enough books there?” he teased.
“Ha, that’s actually not even half of them,” I laughed.
“I finished packing up.. so maybe after you’re done we could go to the deli and get a drink or something?”
“That would be lovely,” I responded grinning from ear to ear.
“Alright,” he smiled, “I’ll be by Billie’s locker so just walk over when you’re done.”
“Okay.” He turned and began to walk back down the hallway. I squealed with delight and out of the corner of my eye, I could have swore that I saw Tom give a highfive to someone.
The only question was, did he want to hang out with me because someone told him to? Or did he really like me for who I was?
‘Jules, stop being such a Doubting Thomas!' I scolded myself. (A/N: No pun intended.)
‘I’ll just talk to Juliana about it later,’ I decided. Why worry myself now while I have a chance to just chill with my friend?
I threw a few more books in my bookbag, and closed up my locker. I made sure to fix my bangs and glasses before turning the corner. I saw Tom, Billie, and Jimmy standing at the end of the hallway. As soon as Billie saw me, he grabbed Jimmy by the arm and pulled him to the steps. Jimmy started to fight back but when he saw me, he just waved and went down the steps with Billie willingly.
Tom looked from the steps to me and laughed; I laughed along.
“Ready to get a Frappucchino?” I asked him.
“As ready as I’ll ever be,” he laughed.
We continued down the hall, down the steps, out the doors and went straight to the corner store. It was so cold. SO. FUCKING. COLD.
“This winter better go by fast, because I really can’t take this snow and wind and sleet and slush. It’s driving me insane,” I complained to Tom. He nodded in agreement and put his hand in his pockets.

We stepped into the small, warm shop and got our Frappuchino’s. It felt so nice to be with someone who made me feel so special, even if it was for only a minute or two…
As we were talking, I remembered Tim again, and I immediately thought of how we used to do this everyday. I missed him so much. Tomorrow when we go to the city, I’m making sure I stop by his house and say hello. I’ll make it a surprise though. I smiled just thinking about how shocked and happy he will be when he sees me.
