Rock And Roll Ruined My Life- Chapter 18- Life in New Jersey

I sat outside the school on a bench waiting for Gerard or Lindsey to come and pick me up. As far as I knew, all of my new friends had gone home by bus, walked, drove themselves home, or gotten picked up already. I was the last one. Truthfully, I guess I could have walked, but Gerard and Lindsey said no. So, I just sat there waiting.

As I was looking back on my first day of school, I realized that Jimmy was the only one who asked about my past. Eventually the rest of them are going to want to know… But would I be ready to tell them? I didn’t think I would be… I heard a car pulling up to the curb with the windows down blasting music. I jumped up in excitement.

“Frank! I didn’t know you were picking me up!” He laughed.
“Gerard and Lindsey said they thought it would be a good surprise!”
“Dude! It is a REALLY good surprise! I haven’t seen you in such a long time! How come?” I asked as I buckled my seat belt. He shrugged and said,
“I don’t know. Me and Jamia have just been spending a lot of time together.”
“Aw that’s cute! Well are you going to stay for dinner?”
“I will if you promise you’re not cooking.” I smacked his arm jokingly.
“I only set the microwave on fire twice!”
“Well, twice is enough for me,” he laughed pulling away from the front entrance of my new school.

As I continued to talk to Frank, I didn’t realize that someone was watching me, seeing who picked me up and getting their license plate...

“Hey guys! We’re home!” I announced putting my keys back on their hook by the door.
“Hey,” Gerard came out to meet me and Frank at the door. He had an apron on and a towel over his shoulder, and the house smelled like really good food.
“Man, Lindsey’s got you trained well if she got you to cook,” Frank laughed as he and Gerard did a man-hug thing. Gerard and I laughed too.
“Actually, she usually does the cooking, but she’s out with Bandit getting more food,” Gerard explained, “I’m just watching the food.”
“Oh, okay,” Frank said sarcastically.
SMACK! Gerard hit Frank on the arm with the towel, laughed, then ran back into the kitchen.

“Ow! Get back here you little fucker!” Frank yelled following him. I laughed then took out my phone and started to take a video. I was still standing by the door recording everything when I heard the door open again. I turned to see Ray and Mikey in the doorway. Just then we heard running footsteps, someone slipping on the hardwood floor and then an, “Ow! Shit that hurt!”

“What the hell?” They both said in unison. I laughed.
“Gerard hit Frankie with the towel really hard and now they are trying to kill eachother,” I explained.
“Oh I have to see this,” Ray said walking into the living room where Gerard was still beating Frankie with the towel. Mikey and I followed.

“Guys, break it up. What grade are we in? Pre-K?” Ray said.
“Oh shut it Ray,” Gerard said hitting him with the towel. Now he’d done it. Ray jumped into the fight and now it was Frank and Ray against Gerard.

“And what is your take on this, Mr. Mike?” I asked turning the camera to him.
“No comment, whatsoever,” he chuckled. I laughed too. Then I had an idea.

“Why don’t you go and break it up? Just think how much trouble we’ll all be in if Lindsey sees all of us causing a mess? You know they’re gunna’ blame it on you,” I said trying to get Mikey to join the fight. I watched his expression turn from thoughtful, to sour as he imagined the scenario playing out in his head.

“Guys,” he said walking over to the brawl. I cracked up knowing what would surely happen.
“Help us!” Ray said trying to grab Mikey’s arm.
“Hell no! He’s my bro he’s gunna’ help me!” Gerard said handing him a pillow from the sofa. He took the pillow but just stood there. They all stopped fighting for a second and looked at Mikey. Then, they all got that evil grin and Mikey started to back away as they advanced on him.
“G-guys. B-be reas-sonable now,” he said timidly. All of a sudden he just burst out running away from them and into the dining room. I laughed and followed recording everything.

I was following the guys through the kitchen when I noticed someone was standing at the stove.

“BOB?” I asked. He turned around and smiled sheepishly trying to wipe off the sauce on his face.
“Bob Bryar, how long have you been here?” I fake reprimanded him.
“Like, um, 10 minutes?” He said going back to stirring the sauce. I laughed and looked down at the yummy looking food.
“You made all of this?” I asked.
“Yes ma’am!”
“Whoa. I didn’t know you could cook!”
“I can’t, I’m just following the cook book,” he said as he continued to read off of the big textbook looking cookbook, which I hadn’t noticed.
“Oh, wow, I didn’t even see that,” I laughed, “Alright Chef Bryar, I’ll leave you to attend the food.”

Just as I walked back through the main foyer I saw the door open and Lindsey and Bandit walked through holding tons of groceries. I stayed recording her and Bandit, wanting to see their expressions when they realized what the guys were doing.

“Fuck!”
“You asked for it!”
“Ugh. Guys c’mon!”
“No!”
“FOOD'S DONE!”

All of a sudden all of the fighting stopped and we heard people running into the kitchen. I laughed as Lindsey turned and saw me recording.
“Do I even want to know?” she laughed.
“To be quite honest with you? No,” I replied.
“Okay then. C’mon let’s go eat,” she said picking up Bandit and walking towards the kitchen.

“And that’s how MCR prepares dinner after the first day of school,” I said to the camera before turning it off.

After dinner was done I said good night to everyone, went to upstairs, and lied down on my bed. As I was trying to get comfortable, I wondered how Tim’s, Sarah’s, and Audrey’s first day went. I made a mental note to call them and see how they were doing. ‘We should all hang out over the weekend,’ was my last thought before I fell asleep.
