I walk out into the fresh autumn air. I take a deep breath and start walking home. Mikey only dropped me off and then I had yelled at him to go away, so he did. I sigh, I know I might have been overreacting just a bit, maybe I should apologise.
"Hey! Gerard!" someone calls after me.
I turn on my heels and see Frank running towards me.
"Frank? What are you doing out here?" I ask.
"Just taking in some of the fresh fall air. What about you?" he asks back.
"Oh, n-nothing. I'm just walking too." I reply, not wanting to tell him that I was just at a therapy session.
"Well, how about we walk together?" he offers.
"S-sure. I'd like that." I stutter.
Frank smiles and steps to my side. I notice how tall I am next to him. I'm a good 5 inches. Which is cute because I'd have to bend down to kiss him. Wait, did I just think about kissing him? I feel my face redden at the thought.
"What is it?" Frank asks.
"Oh, it's just...the cold air." I lie.
Frank gives me a knowing smile.
"Of course it was." he sniggers. "So, what's her name?"
"W-what?" I ask confused.
"Her name? The girl that you were thinking about?" he pushes.
"Oh, no! I wasn't...I mean, I'm not!" I exclaim trying to find the words.
"You're not what?" he asks.
"I mean...I'm g-gay." I mumble the last part.
"Oh?" Frank asks, standing still.
I stop walking and stare at him.
"Yeah. I'm gay." I say again, louder this time.
It feels good to finally tell someone this.
"I'm sorry Gerard, I didn't know." Frank apologises immediately.
"No, Frank, it's okay, you're the first to know." I reply, feeling awkward.
"I'm sorry." he says again.
"No Fra-"
"Not for the gay thing, but for leaving you alone at the coffee shop the other day. It wasn't because I was freaked out." he says.
"Then why?" I ask.
"Well, I used to have a friend named Kellin. He died two years ago, and he sounded just like the person you described that day." he whispers, tears forming at the corners of his eyes.
"I'm so sorry Frank! If I had known..." I start.
"It's really not your fault. You didn't know, so don't worry about it." he says calmly.
"I know." I say sadly.
"So...you're sure that your gay?" Frank suddenly asks.
"As sure as the Earth keeps moving" I reply firmly.
"So then it would be alright if I do this?" he asks.
"Do wha-"
And then I felt Frank's lips meet mine, and I swear that I could feel time stop and the Earth stand still...
