Kiss The Morning Sky Goodbye

Chapter 2

Gerard's POV

My head hung low as the scenery passed by too quick for my liking. Mikey looked at me sympathetically tears welling up in his eyes as soft whines left his lips. I raised my head and looked into his eyes and gave him the best smile I could muster. “I'll be okay, Mikey. You don't have to worry about your big brother.” I chuckled nervously and patted his back. He just shook his head and turned so he too was looking at the passing scenery.

I sighed for what seemed to be the hundredth time today as I rested my head against the window, my breath creating a small patch of fog to form against it. I brought my hand up and traced a small xross and watched it fade away slowly. The invitation now seemed to weight about a hundred pounds in my vest pockets as the dreaded royal mansion comes into view. I felt the car slow down a little, as if mom was wanting to turn the car around and make a run for it. But she knew, as well as I, that we didn't have a chance. If we ran now..we'd all die..and I don't think she wants that kind of blood on her hands.

Soon the pavement gave way to a cobble stone driveway that led up to this huge wrought-iron gate, a large ornate crest with an “I” welded onto the front. Mom put the car in park and let her hands rest in her lap. I opened the car door and stepped out and turned around to face them both. “I-i'll see you both soon, okay? Mikey..i want you to be strong for Momma. Listen to her, okay?” He gave a quick nod before tears fell down his cheeks. Even he knew that this may very well be the last time he'll see me.

“Gerard?” I then turned to Momma, a small sob escaping my lips as she got out of the car and wrapped her arms around me tightly. I closed my eyes tightly to try and stop my tears from falling, but to no avail. She continued to sob into my chest for a few minutes before she pulled away and wiped of my shoulder. “S-stay strong in t-there for me..okay, bambino?”

I nodded and tried to say something, but all that came out were choked sobs and whimpers. She kissed my forehead one last time before she got back into the car and drove back down the driveway. The last thing I saw was they crying face of my brother as they drove into the sunset. As the sun finally dipped below the horizon a loud chime rang out, causing me to jump.

“State your business here, human!” I spun around and gasped as I saw a male vampire standing directly behind me. His glowing brown eyes boring into mine as snarls rose up his throat. My legs began to shake as my lips quivered. “I said state. Your. Business!” He growled loudly, causing me to jump yet again. My hand shook as I reached inside my vest pocket and pulled out the small white envelope with my name written intricately on the front. The male- “My name is Gabriel, you fillth!!”

I opened my mouth to say something but shut it quickly as he growled at me. Hmm..so this is Gabriel? Gabriel rolled his eyes and pulled out his phone and quickly dialed a number. “He's here.....yes sir, I'll bring him in.” He then snapped his phone shut and put it back into his pocket. “Come with me, Mr. Way. The royal family has been expecting you.”

The metal in the gate creaked loudly as it opened wide enough for us to fit through. Gabriel pushed me in front of him as I hesitated. My shoes clicked against the cobble stone as we walked closer to the mansion. The outside was done in a dark gray stone, causing it to glow slightly in the setting sun. Two towers rose up in the front with a single window on each. At each window, a vampire was stationed with guns.

Gabriel chuckled next to me and shook his head. “You seemed surprised...like no one would protect them.” He rolled his eyes and scoffed. My eyes widened as he bent down to my level. “Besides...it's not the humans we're protecting them from...” I gulped and kept my head forward as he began chuckling again.

I drew in a deep breath and let it out slowly as we started to climb the stairs. A curtain opened slightly, allowing a thin ray of light to pass through and land on my face. I quickly looked down and took another deep breath as the door opened, the clan leader, Frank Sr. himself stepping out. Gabriel bowed, so I thought it wise that I do the same. “Hmm..Gerard Way...you look a bit small for your age..”

I gulped, rather loudly and nodded. “Sm-small but strong, s-sir..” He nodded and hummed thoughtfully as he circled around me. I flinched slightly as he grabbed my arm and lifted it up slightly, feeling my biceps. Once he finished, his hand slid down to my wrist where he paused for a bit. I closed my eyes tightly as I felt something cut into my skin, drawing blood. “Ahh!”

My muscles tensed up slightly as I felt him latch onto my wrist, slight sucking sounds could be heard as he drank from me. A few minutes later, he pulled away from me and pressed his thumb over the cut he made. The then wiped his chin off and chuckled. “And he's pure..now that's something you don't see everyday..” P-pure?..what does that even mean? “It means you're untouched..a virgin.” Oh.. “Thank you, Gabriel. You may return to your post.” Gabriel then bowed once again before he turned around and walked towards the front gate. “Come, Gerard. I'll introduce you to the rest of the family.”

I nodded as I slowly took my wrist from his hands and held it close to my chest. “Don't worry, that wound will heal in no time.” I gulped and nodded as I stepped inside. My eyes widened as we walked into the foyer, which had a huge spiral staircase in the middle of the black marble floor. The walls were also black with a white marble trim. “Linda...Franklin! Come to the foyer.”

I jumped slightly as his voice echoed throughout the room, making it seem a little bit louder than it already was. “Frank, must you talk so loud?” Said a voice as soft and smooth as could be. I looked up to see Linda, Frank's mate come into the room in a long flowing black dress with red heels. “Well..who's this?..”

“This is Gerard, the human we've been expecting.” She scoffed and nodded before she balanced her weight onto one leg. “Where's Franklin?” He then sighed and shook his head. “He's not on the roof again, is he?” She shrugged her shoulders and shook her head. “That boy..Well, Gerard let me show you the rest of the house”

“Y-yes, Sir.” I said before I bowed to him. I then turned around and bowed to Ms. Linda. “Maam..” She nodded her head in a slight bow before she turned and walked up the stairs, mumbling something that sounded like “Certainly not as scrawny as the last one..” Not really sure if that's a good thing or not....

“Come, Gerard.” He said as he began walking toward what I assumed was the living room, which was grander than the foyer. It had a black baby grand piano in the corner next to the wide fireplace that had a sofa and two leather chairs on either side. The flooring was a dark hardwood that contrasted with the walls perfectly.

“Sit.” I nodded and did exactly as I was told, Frank Sr. sitting down in front of me. “Do you know why you are here, Gerard?” I shook my head as I looked down at my fumbling hands, trembling in fear. “You're here, simply because we want you to be. Reasons beyond that is no concern of yours. Whatever we tell you to do, you do it. If you don't, then you will be...punished severely.” I nodded once again and gulped as he leaned forward a bit. “Do what we ask of you quickly and efficiently...you will be rewarded.”

Just as I was about to open my mouth to reply, a set of footsteps could be heard coming down the stairs. I turned my head slightly and saw a young boy, about my age, dressed in black jeans and a red v-neck T, with black converse coming down the stairs. I stood up and bowed my head as I placed my hands at my sides in respect, not really sure if this boy is a vampire or not.

“Ah, Franklin. How nice of you to join us son.” Frank Senior said with a slight growl. So he is a vampire then... Frank Senior then rose from his seat and stood beside me as he nodded towards his son, 'Franklin'. “This is Gerard, the human that will be staying with us. “Gerard..this is Franklin.”

I slowly lifted my eyes, still keeping my head bowed. Once my eyes locked with the boy's, I gasped. His hazel eyes that seemed to be rimmed with green, glowed with more brilliance than I've ever seen.
