I Have An Idea
Frank
I stared at him, waiting for him to respond. He didn’t. He just sat there, staring at the page with a blank face. He looked like a statue.
“Gerard?”
Nothing.
“Come on, please. Gerard, just… what’s wrong?”
“Don’t you get it?” he whispered, his eyes still locked on the page. “Don’t you fucking get it?”
I frowned. “What do you mean? What are you talking about?”
He swallowed and shut his eyes, shaking slightly. “Frank. This… this is us. You and me, this how it ends.”
I stared at the page, reading it over and over, my heart slowly sinking. “It can’t be. It can’t. It’s not us. Don’t Gerard. Don’t say that, you’re wrong! It doesn’t end like that!”
He looked at me. “This is your prophecy Frank, this is what happens to you.”
“But it’s not! It’s a lie! Emily told me, she said so! She told me it wasn’t true, she told me the writer changed it! It doesn’t end like this Gerard, it doesn’t!”
“We don’t know how much of this is true Frank.”
My shoulders slumped in defeat and I hung my head. I didn’t know what I was supposed to do.
“But Gerard, I only… I only die because you tried to change me. It doesn’t end like that as long as you don’t change me,” I pointed out.
“I know,” he mumbled. “I just… Frank, I’m scared.”
“You don’t need to be scared. It doesn’t have to end like this, you know that. We know what all of this is about now. That means we can stop it, we can fight it.”
“It doesn’t change the fact that all of this frightens me,” he admitted.
“It scares me too. But we have to do something Gee. We can’t just do nothing now that we know what this means.”
He just sighed, running his hands through his hair. “Frank… I have an idea.”
I chewed my lip. “What do you mean?”
“I just… I was thinking about this a few days ago and I just… fuck, it’s completely crazy but it might work.”
“What is it?”
“It’s about Ray.”
I stared at him, waiting for him to respond. He didn’t. He just sat there, staring at the page with a blank face. He looked like a statue.
