The Only Safety I Have, is My Field of Paper Flowers
Chapter 4
"Mary?" I mumbled stiffly I opened my eyes to see that I was lying on the cold wood ground and the fire was out. Normally people wouldn't be concerned about this kind of thing, but Mary never and I mean NEVER let's the fire stay out and if we've run out of wood, it's my job to get it "Mary?!" I asked more panicky I pull myself off the ground and look around the cabin "Mary?!? Where are you? MARY!" I kept asking with nervousness clinging to my words I walked into her room, nothing but her stuff sat in the room. I ran into the kitchen and looked around, Mary never left the house without me, especially if I was out. I felt my knuckles go cold as a white piece of paper lay calmly on the table. Like it was a devil's spawn, my hands, shaking, made a grab for the unwrinkled white sheet. Dear Frank, I still can't believe you didn't tell your girlfriend, Mary, about me. It's like saying you wear pink tights and a green dress to a wedding. Anywho, Frankie. Me and your "friend" are going to have a lovely lunch in the Forest of Fear. I do hope you will join us and if you don't, well, I just might keep Mary with me forever. How would that be Frankie? Signed, Gerard, KING OF THE FOREST, I drop the paper and quickly run to grab the old latern that hangs by the front door. It was still raining, but I didn't care, Monster had Mary and that was probably the worst thing in the entire world. The latern eerily glowed as I stepped outside in my hoodie. I started to run, I ran through the flowers. Purple, blue, green, and white all blended together as I ran through the field, the colors started to fade, then the grass, and soon I was standing in front of a gateway of dead trees. The "gateway" was a bunch of the trees folding in to make a dome looking thing. I stopped for a moment to catch my breath and was looking ahead. "Frank?" a voice called I didn't realize who that voice belonged to until it started screaming "Frankie! Help!" Mary's voice echoed in my ears "Mary!" I ran faster than I ever did before, she kept screaming my name until it sounded very close. I was about to jump through the bushes when I felt something tug on my shirt, I ignored it until it started nagging at my ear. I swatted at it until I heard an "Ow!" I turned to see a small figure rubbing her head, she was no more than two inches tall and two inches wide. The small girl had small blue wings that were fluttering strangely, and she had small blue overalls covering a pink shirt and light blue tucked into two pigtails "Why'd you hit me?" she asked angirly "I......I thought you were a bug" I said curiosly "Oh yeah, hey I have an idea, why don't you look at what you're hitting next time" she snapped "Hey I'm sorry, you just distracted me from getting my friend" "Well that wasn't your friend, buddy" she stopped mumbling something that I caught as "Great he broke my wing" "Do you need help?" I asked she looked at me curiosly "With your wings?" "Well if you can fix my wings..... I'll help you find your friend" She shifted to the side and allowed me to look at her wings, which looked like the were only wrinkled. I used my pointer and thumb to straigten them. She looked up at me and smiled "Well I'll be a Princess Banana, thanks" "Will you help me?" "Yup, I don't break promises" "Cool, so umm what's your name?" "I'm Lucy"
