Words Mean Nothing.

Chapter Twenty-Three

The woman who burst into the room was Hot, Gerard would give her that. Her perfectly tanned skin and Hollywood blonde hair complimented her pure white dress like whipped cream on hot chocolate. She practically tumbled into the room her sun hat and glasses falling off of her body as she scrambled to pick them up off the floor. Her eyes hallow and rubbed red from what Gerard assumed must have been sobbing.

“Frankie Baby!” She exclaimed rushing over to the bed placing her bright red lips to the boy’s head in frantic kisses. She placed them all over his sleeping face not even registering Mikey and Gerard staring at her awestruck. “Awh, honey. How could you let this happen to you? What would your mother think? Bless her soul. Oh, baby. You poor thing. Please be okay.”

Her heart wrenching sob echoed throughout the room and she slid into the chair besides his bed head in her hands. Gerard exchanged a worried glance with Mikey and the two rushed to her side.

“It’s okay! He’s doing better, actually. Nurses say he should wake up any minute now!” Gerard exclaimed. Mikey rubbed the woman’s back and Gerard patted her head like he would an upset puppy.

“Yeah, he’s doing so much better now. His vitals are actually back to normal. He finished up the blood Iv, which frankly was disturbing to watch especially at night or when the nurses came in and squeezed to make sure it wasn’t clumping...but, that’s all done and he should wake up soon.” Mikey panicked out trying to get the lady to stop crying he’d seen enough crying the last three days.

“I can’t loose him too!” she sobbed out, making it hard for Gerard and Mikey to tell what she was saying.

“You’re not!” the two exclaimed in unison exchanging another worried look with one another.

“He’s going to be okay.” Gerard re-assured his body tense with the thought of loosing Frank.

“His father was my best friend! He was my everything for years, and his mother was my only sister! They’re were the only family I have left! He’s just as alone in this world as I am and if I loose him, I’m alone alone in this world and that scares me so much. I need Frankie. He’s as much my son as their’s!” she exclaimed still in hysterics.

Gerard and Mikey were beginning to panic. She was beginning to hyperventilate and her entire body was shuddering.

Gerard did the only thing he could think of, he swooped down and hugged her whole heartedly. He hugged her tight and soon he felt Mikey do they same so it was a massive group hug, as the three re-assured one another.

“You’re never alone.” Gerard smiled, hugging her closer.

A rustling in the bed behind them stirred them all out of their hug. The woman rushed over in a heart beat to stare at Frankie beginning to move in his bed.

“FRANKIE BABY?!” she exclaimed, brushing his light black locks out of his eyes. He flashed open his eyes squinting up at her.

“Mom?” he muttered, his voice dry and cracking.

“No, baby.” she whispered tears welling up in her brown eyes. “It’s Auntie Liz, honey. How are you feeling?”

Frank’s eyes opened wider looking up at his Aunt. He hadn’t seen her since his mom’s funeral yet it felt like just yesterday that he’d stayed up crying in her arms all night. He raised his arm, IV trailing close behind and motioned for her to come in for a hug. She did without a second thought hugging her nephew to her listening to his shallow breathing. Gerard and Mikey looked on a smile spread on their faces.

“What happened?” Frank asked looking at his arms after his aunt let him go.

“We were hoping you could tell us, that.” Mikey replied staring at Frank’s bandaged arms.

Frank stared down at the bandages in his arms, letting his eyes travelled up to the IV plugged into his arm, and then the three troubled faces looking down on him. Frank Anthony Iero would have loved to tell him what happened, the only problem was, he couldn’t remember himself.

Soft simple tears began t trickle down the young girls face as she read the ending words to her newly acquired addiction. The words seemed to swarm and melt around her mind like the coffee she seems to stitched to. With the words coursed around her mind she started to beg, plead, anything for another story about her hero's. No words came inside her head, no words of greatness shot through her mind but eight... 'This is my Gerard and I am Frank Iero.'
