A Kiss And I Will Surrender
005
"Did he grow out of being afraid?" Dr Johnson questions.
"Hardly."
*
I am ten and you are eight. You're starting second grade, having skipped first because they said that you were too smart for your age. You're even more scared now than when you were first starting Kindergarden. You take a few deep breaths and sigh.
"Are you ready?" I ask.
"Not at all."
"You don't have to worry."
"You don't know that Gee."
I lightly kiss your forehead and pull you into a hug. You relax into me and we stay like that for a while.
"I love you Gee."
"I love you too Mikey."
(Time lapse)
You sit on the ground in front of the school crying. Your hair is a mess and your glasses are missing.
"Mikey! Mikes are you okay?"
"No! Some kid pushed me too the ground and stole my glasses!" You cry.
"Who was it?"
"It doesn't matter."
You hug me and rest your head in the crook of my neck and I hold you as you cry.
"Don't worry Mikey, we'll make them pay for the things that they did..."
"Hardly."
