I guess I see the idea behind the "I think I've found my true mate but he's only 12 so I'm waiting for him." Since other vamp stories portray they knowing their mates instantly, would it be the same if one is super young? it would be interesting to explore the idea. BUT, I think it would be less icky if Gerards willingness to wait wasn't accompanied by him hitting on a 12 yr old in a creepy fashion.
